Nu Minds Tutoring – Electronics in Action

Fundamentals to Real-Life System Design

OBJECTIVE

The objective of the session was to introduce first-year students to the fundamentals of electronics, including basic electrical quantities and core electronic components, and to enhance their conceptual understanding and logical thinking through simplified explanations and real-life applications.

EVENT OVERVIEW

The IEEE HKN Nu Eta Chapter of Sri Sairam Engineering College conducted an online tutoring program titled “Nu Minds Tutoring – Electronics in Action: Fundamentals to Real-Life System Design” from 19th January 2026 to 23rd January 2026 via Google Meet.

The sessions were led by Saravanan RK and Alagappan A, third-year ECE students and IEEE HKN members. Over five days, the program focused on strengthening foundational knowledge in electronics using simplified teaching methods, real-world examples, and interactive discussions.

EVENT SESSION

TOPICS COVERED

- Voltage, Current, Resistance, and Power
- Capacitors and Inductors
- Difference between Electrical and Electronics Systems
- Real-Life Applications of Electronics Concepts

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

Students actively participated throughout the sessions by asking questions, clarifying doubts, and engaging in interactive discussions. The opening session recorded the participation of approximately 60 students, with consistent attendance of around 40–50 students across all five days.

ONLINE CLASS

EVENT OUTCOMES

- Students gained a clear understanding of basic electronics concepts and components.
- Improved conceptual clarity and logical reasoning among first-year participants.
- Increased confidence in approaching electronics-related subjects.
- Encouraged interactive learning and senior–junior knowledge sharing.
- Built a strong foundation for further studies in electronics and related domains.

PARTICIPANTS’ FEEDBACK

Participants appreciated the structured and simplified approach used to explain fundamental electronics concepts. Many students expressed that topics such as voltage, current, resistance, power, capacitors, and inductors became easier to understand through real-life examples and interactive teaching.

RESOURCE PERSONS

1. Saravanan R K – 3rd Year ECE, IEEE HKN Member
2. Alagappan A – 3rd Year ECE, IEEE HKN Member

PARTICIPANTS

Over 50 first-year students actively participated in the electronics fundamentals sessions. The program proved highly beneficial in strengthening their understanding and confidence in core electronics concepts.

CONCLUSION

The Nu Minds Tutoring initiative successfully built a strong conceptual foundation for first-year students, enhancing their understanding of electronics principles and logical thinking abilities. This peer-led initiative reflects IEEE HKN’s commitment to fostering technical awareness, conceptual clarity, and a collaborative learning culture.
