The IEEE-HKN Nu Eta Chapter at Sri Sairam Engineering College successfully organized a motivational and thought-provoking webinar titled "SCALE UP – THINK BOLD, LEARN DEEP, LIVE TRUE" on 11th April 2025. The session was aimed at inspiring student volunteers to explore leadership, integrity, and lifelong learning, aligning with the core values of IEEE-HKN.
The event was conducted virtually through Google Meet and saw enthusiastic participation from over 50 IEEE student volunteers belonging to various technical societies of the college. The webinar created a collaborative platform where students could gain new perspectives and insights from an accomplished leader in the field.
The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Colleen Bailey, who currently serves as the IEEE-HKN Region 5/6 Governor. She is also an Assistant Professor at the University of North Texas and the Principal Investigator of the O.S.C.A.R. Lab. Dr. Bailey brought with her a wealth of knowledge and experience, and her session focused on helping students embrace bold thinking, deep learning, and living true to their personal and professional values. During the webinar, she shared her personal journey, including challenges and successes, which provided attendees with a real-world view of what it means to lead with authenticity. Her narrative emphasized the significance of maintaining character, making ethically sound decisions, and contributing meaningfully to the community through leadership roles in academia and industry.
The primary objective of the webinar was to instill the core values upheld by IEEE-HKN—Scholarship, Character, and Attitude—among the student community. Dr. Bailey’s engaging session encouraged participants to step beyond conventional boundaries, embrace a growth mindset, and commit to continuous personal development. Her insights were not only motivating but also thought-provoking, pushing the students to evaluate how they could incorporate leadership and integrity into their own paths.
The webinar resulted in an increased awareness among students about IEEE-HKN’s foundational principles. It also inspired them to adopt these values in both their academic and personal lives. Many participants expressed how the event helped them reflect on their goals and approaches to learning, leadership, and service. The overall feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with students feeling more confident about taking on leadership responsibilities while staying true to their core ethics and purpose.
The smooth execution and success of the webinar were made possible through the dedicated efforts of student volunteers from the IEEE-HKN Nu Eta Chapter. Key contributors to the organization of the event included Jagadeesh G, Tharushi S S, and Sanjay Kumar S, whose coordination ensured seamless communication, promotion, and event management.
To highlight the event's success and maintain engagement, screenshots and promotional posters were shared across various digital platforms. These visuals showcased the session’s interactive atmosphere and the high level of participation. The event concluded on an inspiring note, leaving attendees with the message to dream big, think critically, and always lead with character—capturing the true essence of what it means to scale up in today’s world.
